2017 will be remembered, among recent decades, as the season with the lowest yield of grapes, however this had no influence whatsoever on their quality, which was very high. The grapes ripened fully and had very good concentrations of both extracts and polyphenols. The principal characteristics of the wine are deep colours, and sweet, velvety sensations given by soft, easily extractable polyphenols.
The base wines for Casa Conforto were already put in wooden barrels, of Slavonian oak, before Christmas. Maturing, in this way, began immediately and continued until the various barrels were blended, roughly two months before bottling.
Ruby red with slight garnet highlights when aged.
Rich aromas of sweet, fleshy fruit, slight notes of spice and untoasted wood.
The fleshy sensations detected by the nose are echoed and the high extract and concentration perceived, without annoying tannic sensations.
It’s a wine that doesn’t have many limits: however, its favourite dishes are the traditional ones, “Pici al ragù”, red meats (grilled or roasted), thick bread soups, medium and mature cheeses, cured ham and cold cuts
