A complex wine with an intriguing nose of citrus, white peach, dried herbs, ginger and spice which leads on to the palate seamlessly. On the palate it has an interesting texture, with weight and depth and extraordinarily pure fruit led by a present acidity and a touch of almond skin. Extraordinary fruit purity, driving acidity and a pithy finish.

Food Pairing

A perfect match for a fresh, aromatic chicken salad with toasted almonds.

“From Piekenierskloof vineyard, harvest involved two picks, one at 19˚ Balling and another at around 22˚ Balling. Vinified mostly in concrete egg, the balance in amphorae. A pretty nose of lemon, naartjie and fresh herbs. The palate is very refined, almost dainty – alcohol a mere 12%. Excellent fruit definition and punchy acidity before a savoury finish. ” – Christian Eedes, 95/100

“Cult Classic – Rall Grenache Blanc 2018. Donovan Rall has moved to two picks for this wine to give it more nuances. The same is true of the shift away from oak to separate fermentations in stainless steel, concrete and a solitary amphora. Complex, fresh and very pure, this has the variety’s characteristic brightness and 􏰆􏰬􏰈􏰇􏰈􏰚􏰔􏰤acidity, with some creamy lees and a long, focused finish. 2021-2026.” – Tim Atkin: 93/100.
