The Syrah is part of the Gabriëlskloof range of wines, together with our Rosebud, Sauvignon Blanc, Chenin Blanc and The Blend. This range offers a selection of boutique-style wines that always over-deliver on quality and value.

CLIMATE & VITICULTURE

Vintage ’23 was characterised by low yields and early ripening, resulting in wines of excellent concentration and marked freshness, particularly in the whites. Late-season rain delayed ripening on reds, leading to challenges, but increased flavour development and elegance.

VINIFICATION

Following careful hand-picking, a portion of the bunches were destemmed and transferred to fermentation tanks using a gravity system, allowing for whole berry fermentation, while the rest went in as whole bunch. Naturally fermented and aged in older French barrique for 12 months.

TASTING NOTE

A nose showing signature purple flowers, mulberries, olives and cured meats leads to a generous palate of black and red fruits, rainbow pepper and a background earthiness. A stony, mineral texture adds precision and structure to the palate while fine-grained tannins prolong the finish.
