The Salty Tongues Syrah 2025 is a 100% Syrah red wine from vines located 25 kilometres from the cold Atlantic ocean, in Vredendal on the West Coast of South Africa. Planted in 1999, these vines endure the full West Coast force of heavy winds, extreme drought and lots of heat.

The Label is a reference to the Rise of the West Coast as a new wine region and showcases divers picking grapes under the ocean, which contributes to the ‘’salty’’ taste on the palette.

Grapes were picked early in the morning to preserve freshness, then cooled down before being destemmed with 30% whole bunches at the bottom of open fermenters.

Natural fermentation started after three days of cold soaking, and lasted for about two weeks, with pumpovers three times a day. Fermentation temperature was kept at 27⁰C throughout the main Fermentation. After fermentation there was a two week period of extra time on the skins to extract more of the finer tannins. After pressing, the wine was racked to 500 litre barrels for aging. Aging in barrel was done for 12 months. Bottled with the addition of a little sulphur, unfined and unfiltered.
