Blend of Semillon Blanc and Semillon Gris. The Old Vine Series Kokerboom has an intriguing bouquet with orange blossom, sea spray, lanolin and grilled walnut aromas, like others developing more intensity as it aerated in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with beautiful balance in the mouth, a perfect combination of sweet and sour, a tincture of almond macaroon lending sweetness towards the finish.

Drink 2018-2032

Winemaker’s comments

We continue along the range of the Citrusdal Mountains towards our highest vineyard, Kokerboom, which was equally hit by the drought – so much that we were 50% down on production. The tiny crop did however ripen perfectly and alongside the 2015 this has to be the best bottling to date. Very limited, but magnificent. The very typical beeswax, lemon and chamomile flavours are present, as well as a serious mineral undertone and dense texture.

“Another Sadie Family wine that lost half of it’s crop to the growing season in 2019, Kokerboom is part of stunning array of whites from Eben Sadie this year. Made with co-planted Semillon Blanc and Gris from Henk Laing’s farm, this is herbal, saline and refreshing, all pink grapefruit, lime and lemongrass with a herbal twist and the gentle caress of old barrels. Drink 2022-29.”
