‘The 2017 White is a blend of 60% Chenin Blanc, 30% Verdelho and 10% Viognier.
2019 – 2027
It is the first vintage where the Chardonnay has been left out due to the concentration. It has an intense bouquet of oyster shell, lemon thyme and crushed stone, very focused in style. The palate is very well balanced, with a lightly spiced entry, linear and racy, and a gorgeous orange pith, nectarine and white peach finish that lingers in the mouth. Outstanding.’ Neal Martin Report 2018, 94 Points
“‘The Rall white I’ve made with the most finesse’ is its creator’s verdict on the 2017. Marrying Chenin with Verdelho and a splash of Viognier, it’s a subtle, allusive, gently wooded wine with bread and baking spice notes, a hint of peach and a core of chiselled acidity. A world class white wine at an eminently affordable price.” – Tim Atkin MW, South African Report 2018 – 96 Points
Stone fruit and orange with top notes of potpourri and spice. Lovely presence in the mouth – muscular rather than weighty. Concentrated fruit and tangy acidity before a saline finish. Alcohol: 13.5%.’ – Christian Eedes, Winemag.co.za, 94 Points
‘The Rall White 2017 is, for the first time, sans Chardonnay and I think it is better for it. It is tighter and excites with the trademark purity of the 2017 vintage. It has developed an almost cult-like following and sells out fast. This is a super-refined, elegant Rall White and it is my favourite yet.’ – James Pietersen
