This wine is a second wine for our popular Ladybird red. It is made from younger organic vineyards. It is a classic Bordeaux style blend like its big brother. All grapes are grown on our farm. Deep clay rich soils not only are much cooler but they allow us to grown the grapes without use of irrigation. The wine is meant to be softer and more approachable when young.
All grapes are treated nearly the same on the farm. We pick between middle February and usually finish about the end of
March. Everything is handpicked and we do cool some grapes down to around 4 degrees before we start with the fermentation. Everything is hand sorted on a special vibrating table to get rid of any unwanted green stems. We never have problems with rot. Most of the batches are fermented without yeast in small open top fermentation tanks. Extraction is with punchdowns, all manual off course.
Mediumred colour with a very complexed nose. Some wild berry, leather and hint of spice is clearly evident. Good mouthfeel with soft lingering, almost chewy dry land tannin prominent. Great balance. To be enjoyed 1 – 5 years after harvest.
